Usage Note
Fuyant is the present participle of fuir (to flee) used as an adjective. In describing a person it means evasive or slippery; in describing a physical feature such as a chin or brow (menton fuyant, front fuyant) it means receding or sloping backward. In drawing and perspective, ligne fuyante refers to a vanishing line.
