Usage Note
Fumant is the present participle of fumer used as an adjective; it describes something actively giving off smoke or steam, such as a hot dish or a chimney. Informally it also describes someone seething with anger ('fuming'). The feminine form is fumante.

He puts down a steaming bowl of soup.
