foutre

to do, to put

verb FOO-truh Common

Also means

to do

Usage Note

Foutre is a highly vulgar verb — the French equivalent of the English 'f-word' — but is widespread in casual speech. S'en foutre means to not care at all, and fous le camp! means 'get lost!' The past participle foutu is used as an adjective meaning 'done for' or 'ruined': c'est foutu means 'it is finished/doomed.'

Examples

"Je m'en fous complètement de ça."

Natural Translation

I couldn't care less about that.

Literal Translation

I myself of-it care-not completely of that.
