Fougueux (feminine fougueuse) describes a person, animal, or temperament full of passionate energy — a cheval fougueux (a spirited horse) or a jeune homme fougueux (a hot-headed young man). The noun is fougue (fire, spirit, ardour). It is always positive or at worst neutral — it does not imply recklessness the way impétueux can.
