Also means
to forgive
Usage Note
Excuser turns reflexive in s'excuser (to apologize), and excusez-moi covers both 'excuse me' for attention and 'sorry' for a small slip — but a serious apology calls for je suis désolé. The standard construction is excuser de plus an action, as in excusez-moi de vous déranger.
Examples
"Excusez-moi, où est la gare?"
Natural Translation
Excuse me, where is the train station?
Literal Translation
Excuse-to-me, where is the station?
