Usage Note
Enquérir is always used reflexively as s'enquérir de — meaning 'to ask about' or 'to inquire into': s'enquérir de la santé de quelqu'un ('to ask after someone's health'). It is formal and literary; in everyday speech se renseigner or demander are preferred. Its conjugation follows acquérir (irregular: j'acquiers pattern).
