Usage Note

Cuillerée (also spelled cuillérée) is the standard culinary term for the contents of a spoon — une cuillerée à soupe (a tablespoon) or une cuillerée à café (a teaspoon). It appears in virtually every French recipe. The root is cuillère (spoon); the suffix -ée indicates the measure, as in poignée (handful).
