Usage Note

cru describes uncooked food (légumes crus) and harsh, unfiltered things like une lumière crue ('harsh light') or blunt speech. The feminine form is crue; note it also means 'flood' (en crue = 'in flood') as a separate noun. Do not confuse with cuit (cooked).
