Couloir refers to a narrow passage — the hallway of a building, the corridor of a train, or a dedicated lane for buses (couloir de bus). In political parlance, les couloirs du pouvoir means 'the corridors of power'. The ski term couloir for a steep narrow gully is borrowed directly into English.
