Convertir covers religious conversion (se convertir à l'islam), unit or format conversion (convertir des euros en dollars), and winning someone over to an idea. The reflexive se convertir is used for personal or ideological change. The noun is la conversion; the adjective converti (converted) can also function as a noun: un converti (a convert).
