Usage Note

Conscient means both 'aware of something' (conscient du danger) and 'conscious/awake' in a medical sense (le patient est conscient). The feminine form is consciente. The opposite is inconscient (unaware, unconscious), and the noun conscience means both 'consciousness' and 'conscience' (moral sense).
