Usage Note

Confirmation refers to verification or formal approval ('attendre la confirmation d'une réservation' = to await booking confirmation), and also to the Christian sacrament of Confirmation (la confirmation in Catholicism). The verb is confirmer. In formal correspondence, en confirmation de means 'further to' or 'confirming'.
