Chips is an English loanword used in French for thin potato crisps (what British English calls 'crisps' and American English calls 'chips'). It is plural in form and typically used with the article des chips. Les frites ('French fries') are entirely distinct. Gender is feminine plural in most usage: des chips croustillantes.
