Usage Note
Cerise also functions as an adjective meaning bright red (rouge cerise), and in French slang c'est la cerise sur le gâteau (the cherry on the cake) means the final, often ironic, crowning detail. The tree is un cerisier. As a colour, cerise is invariable.
