Usage Note

Capuche refers to a hood attached to a garment, such as on a hoodie or anorak. It is distinct from capot (car bonnet/hood) and chaperon (historical hood). A hooded sweatshirt is called un sweat à capuche. The diminutive capuchon is also used and refers to a hood or cap (on a pen, for example).
