Usage Note
Cachemire refers to the fine wool fiber from cashmere goats, or a garment made from it. The word also gives its name to the motif cachemire — the teardrop-shaped pattern known in English as 'paisley', which originated in Kashmir. A pull en cachemire ('cashmere sweater') is considered a luxury item.
