Usage Note
Bouquin is an informal, affectionate word for livre (book) and is very common in everyday French conversation. Bouquiner means 'to browse books' or 'to read'; a bouquiniste is a second-hand bookseller — the famous green stalls along the Seine in Paris are called les bouquinistes. The word carries no negative register.
