Bouche is the standard word for the human mouth, but it extends to any opening or inlet. The phrase bouche à oreille means word-of-mouth, literally 'mouth to ear', and is widely used in marketing and everyday French. A bouchée — a mouthful or small bite — comes directly from this word.
