Boire is an irregular verb; its past participle is bu. The noun la boisson means 'a drink' or 'a beverage.' The cultural phrase boire un coup ('to have a drink') is a very common informal invitation. Boire can also be used figuratively: boire les paroles de quelqu'un means 'to hang on someone's every word.'
