Usage Note
Ébruiter means to let information get out or spread news that was meant to be confidential. It is most often reflexive: la nouvelle s'est ébruitée (the news got out). It always carries a nuance of unintended or unwanted disclosure, and is more formal than divulguer.

The news quickly spread through the village.
Literal Translation
The news itself is quickly leaked-out in the village.
