Usage Note

Éboueur is the standard French term for a refuse collector or bin man. The feminine form éboueure exists but is rare; éboueur is commonly used for all genders in practice. The profession is also called agent de collecte des ordures ménagères in administrative language. The word is not to be confused with éboulement (a landslide or rock fall).
